Richard M. Carty, 86, of Worcester, passed away Friday, December 26th in Worcester Health Center. He leaves two brothers, John A. Carty, SJ, of Alexandria, Egypt and Paul A. Carty and his wife Anne of Houston, TX; a sister, Margaret Dilworth of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Carty.
He was born in Worcester, the son of John A. and Margaret M. (Sullivan) Carty and graduated from South High School and Worcester Junior College. He was a civil engineer for the Massachusetts State Highway Department, retiring in 1995. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and had been a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.
The funeral is Monday, December 29th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 9:30 until 10:30 AM Monday in the funeral home.
