Ray Burkett, 94, of Ocilla, died Friday, December 26, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Chappell Cemetery in Petal, Mississippi. The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Service in Petal, from 1 until 3, Tuesday afternoon prior to the graveside service
Mr. Burkett was born June 12, 1920, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Herbert & Carrie Lambert Burkett. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was a furniture repairman having worked for Ethan Allen in New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Burkett had lived in Ocilla since 1995, coming from Elizabethton, Tennessee. He loved to fish and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Dearmon Burkett and his son and daughter-in-law: Cecil & Dorthy Burkett, all of Ocilla; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
