Donald R. Chase, 67, of Loudon, NH, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Concord Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Randolph, VT on February 4, 1947, a son of the late Russell and Alice (Miller) Chase, Sr. He was a resident of Loudon for the past 1 1/2 years, formerly living in Melbourne, FL, Epsom and Derry, where he attended Pinkerton Academy. Don was a US Army Vietnam veteran serving from February 4, 1965 - February 3, 1971. He served as the Commander of the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry. Don had been employed as a Fire Commissioner, and was the only person to be elected to both Derry and E. Derry Fire Districts. He was a member of the NH Fire Chiefs Assoc., the National Fire Prevention Assoc., the NE Fire Chiefs Assoc., the Power Squadron, and also served as a past Forest Fire Warden. Don had served as the President of the Derry Demons Football Assoc., and served as president of the Granite State Mini Sprint Racing Assoc. He had also been a member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as President, and had been awarded Kiwanian of the Year.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vickie (Buckley) Chase of Loudon; two sons, Joseph D. Chase of Epsom, NH, and John A. Chase of Augusta, ME; one daughter, Tamra Chase of Londonderry, NH; his grandchildren, Autumn and Brianne Chase, Elizabeth, Cambren and Theoren Chase; three brothers, James Chase of Windsor Locks, CT, Dana Chase and his wife Gerri of Warner, NH, and Douglas Ladd of NH; three sisters, Lana Stearns and her husband Walter of Londonderry, Lola Lee Cole and her husband James of Hill, NH, and Lori Ladd of NH; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Russell E. Chase, Jr., and his sister, Susan Corliss.
Calling hours were held on Friday, December 26th from 4 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Saturday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
