George M. Hawe, age 80, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at the Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Concord.
He was born in Everett on July 15, 1921 to the late Ephraim and Aimee L. (Maynard) Hawe.
He was raised and educated in Medford; graduating Medford High School, Class of 1939. George served the US during World War II in the Navy. While serving, he was honored with the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed as a controller for the MBTA for over 35 years until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Hawe was a member of the MBTA Union.
Beloved brother of Wendall I. Hawe of N. Fort Myers, FL. , Dorothy Gates of Stoneham, Marion R. Knight and Robert C. Hawe of Acton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visitation, prior to the funeral from 9 to 10:30 AM. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery. Donations in George's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.
