Obituary

Lucian B. Perreault, a 73 year resident of Charlestown, entered into etrnal life on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford following an extended illness. He was 96 years old.

Lucian was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on December 25, 1917, a son of the late Arthur Perreault and Marie (Ariel) Perreault. He grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire in his early years of life where he was educated and moved to Charlestown in 1941. Lucian enlisted into the United States Army of August 26, 1943 and served his country with the utmost courage and pride during World War II. Lucian was injured at the Anzio Beachhead Invasion. He was severely wounded when he left his fox hole to get water for his brother soldiers. While being transported by stretcher by the medics he was shot again while on the stretcher. Lucian was hospitalized for two years at the Cushing Army Hospital in Framingham. His decorations included the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was discharged on October 25, 1945 with the rank of Private First Class. Upon his recovery he worked his entire adult life in the Garment District. He was a life member of the United States Army 3rd Division and member of Somerville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus. He was co-founder of the Charlestown Little League in 1959 and coached for many years.

Lucian is the beloved husband of the late Catherine M. "Kay" (Martell) Perreault. He is the devoted father of Katherine Grant and her husband Richard of Medford, Lucian "Frank" Perreault and his wife Sharon of Charlestown and Everett and Therese Perreault and her husband Bob Demers of Tucson, Arizona. He is the loving grandfather of Jon-Paul, Andrew, Francesca, Richard, Christopher and his great-granddaughter Olivia. He is the beloved brother of Sr. Lucille Philomenia OP of Michigan, Rita Perreault of Medford, Roland Browning of Hawaii, Yvonne Geddes of California and the late Irene DiPietro and Theodore Browning. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lucian's Funeral on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
