Obituary

Elizabeth L. (Gabel) Carter, 83, of Franklin formerly of Medway, died December 17, in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Carter who died in 1991.
Born in Franklin, April 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Adolf and Elizabeth (Vogel) Gabel, Mrs. Carter was raised in Franklin and had lived in Medway since 1979.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School and Quinsigamond Junior College.
She had been a LPN at Medfield State Hospital and had formerly worked at Wrentham Developmental Center.
Following her retirement from Medfield State Hospital, Mrs. Carter was the secretary for the Medway Community Church for 12 years.
She had been a member of the Church choir and enjoyed painting.
Elizabeth spent many summers at the Bayview Campgrounds in Bourne for many years.
She is survived by her children, Thomas R. Dow of Norfolk, Marsha E. Gagne of Coatesville, Indiana, Kevin M. Dow of Franklin and Sharon M. Nichols of Webster.
She was the mother of the late Diane N. Lipps.
She was the sister of the late Ingeborg “Dixie” Redpath.
Elizabeth is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21, in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 5:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. in the funeral home.
