Robert C. Butcher, Sr., 90, of Medway and formerly of Greenville, NH died Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Blaire House of Milford. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Iva E. (Crossman) Butcher who died in 2005.
Born in Boston on May 31, 1924, he was the son of the late Archibald and Clementine (Wheeler) Butcher.
Mr. Butcher proudly served in the Army during WWII in India.
He was a baking teacher for 25 years at Monty Tech in Fitchburg and Keefe Tech in Framingham. He had also worked as a baker at Hazels Bakery in Wellesley and Boston.
Mr. Butcher loved travelling by car, singing, playing hockey and was an avid fan of the Bruins and Red Sox.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Butcher, Jr. and his wife Helen of Medway and Dale Butcher and his wife Bonnie of Marietta, Georgia.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stella, Joshua and his wife Kiah, Justin, Jeremy, Jonathan and his wife Anastasia, James and his wife Shanna, Joseph, Joy, Joanna and Julia, two great-grandchildren, Josiah and Lydia and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Wesley and Irvin Butcher, Mildred Toney and Hilda Hatch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Bellingham Bible Baptist Church, 365 Hartford Ave. (Rte. 126) in Bellingham on Wednesday, December 17 at 10 a.m.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
