Alfred Correia, 85, of Dartmouth died December 10, 2014 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Elvira A. "Vera" (Moniz) Correia, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Abel and Cecelia (Medeiros) Correia, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Correia retired from Cornell-Dublier.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Correia was a hunting and fishing enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Sylvia of Dartmouth; two sons, Michael Correia of Warwick, RI and Timothy Correia of Tiverton, RI; a brother, Daniel Correia; two sisters, Gloria O'Brien and Rosalie Souza; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Robert Correia and the brother of the late Dolores Vieira, Clarisse Gidley, and Lorraine Normandin.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 19th at 10:30 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
