Thomas Michael Murphy, husband of Laura (Silva) Murphy of Dennisport, passed away after a long battle with cancer, on Dec. 7, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
He was 62.
Born in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Powers) Murphy.
Formerly of North Attleboro, he was a 1971 graduate of North Attleboro High School.
Thom later received a degree in marketing from Roger Williams University.
He worked in sales, which he loved, and later worked in transportation for the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority for 11 years.
He was lucky enough to work with a great group of people that keep the Cape moving.
When he wasn’t working outdoors, Thom could be found relaxing with friends and family at Depot Street Beach, where he presided as the unofficial “mayor.”
He also enjoyed reading several newspapers on a daily basis.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Caitlyn Murphy of Tempe, Arizona; his stepson, Matthew St. Gelais of Portland, Oregon; his sister, Patricia Magnan and her husband William of North Attleboro; his brother, Brian Murphy and his wife Lee of North Attleboro; several very dear nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Lola.
Thom’s family will be receiving visitors at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Dec. 13th between the hours of 12 noon and 2 p.m. with services commencing at 2 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
