Francis J. “Frank” Simpson of Abington and Naples Florida died Wednesday November 19. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” McInnis) Simpson.
Frank was a proud Veteran of the US Navy having served from 1951-1959.
After the service from 1959-1961, he had attended Mass College of Art in Boston and went on to work for the Frank Simpson Graphic Design Art Studio on Newbury Street, Boston from 1961-1970. In 1970 Frank began work at the American Science & Engineering of Cambridge, where he remained until his retirement in 1990.
He was a devout Catholic and a very active communicant of St. Bridget Church, where he had taught CCD and the former St. Nicholas Church both of Abington. During his years working in Cambridge, he had been personally charitable to the homeless of Harvard Square.
He is survived by his children Debbie Hall and Lisa Simpson both of Mashpee and Steven Simpson of Maine. He is also survived by his grandchildren Katie Comis and her husband Dave of Abington, Ashley Hyland of CT and Shannon Robinson of Maine and four great granddaughters. Frank was much loved by his nieces and nephews as well as his many grand nieces and nephews.
Those who heard his stories knew his heart, and he will be missed.
His services will be held Monday December 22 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a 9:00 AM mass in Saint Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Sunday December 21 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
