Mary P. (Candido) Murphy, 90, of Westport, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. Anne’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late William M. Murphy.
Born in Fall River she was the daughter of the late John P. and Maria (Andrade) Candido. She very much enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress in various area mills and in her later years, was able to show her expertise in sewing by creating bridal gowns and wedding party attire. Mrs. Murphy was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter: Helen L. Souza of Westport; her brother: George Candido of NY; 2 granddaughters: Linda L. Souza and Karen L. Rose; 1 great granddaughter: Kiley L. Rose; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jack and Tony Candido.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, December 8, 2014 at 8:00 A.M. from the Potter Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 9:30 A.M.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
