Eleanor Cameron “Cammy” Macneil-Dozier passed away Nov 25, 2014 at the age of 75. She was born on May 20, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Robert P. Macneil and Marion Gill Macneil.
She grew up in Avondale, Westerly, RI. She graduated from Westerly High school in 1957 and had the distinction of being Senior Prom Queen and one of the 12 “Moos”, and can be remembered driving around in her model A Ford “Eloise”.
Previously married to Kenneth L. Bennett formerly of Westerly, RI, she lived in Germany from 1961-1966, England from 1966-1973 where she worked for Max Factor as a make up artist and raised her three children, Karen, Bob and Heidi. Cammy returned to Westerly 1973-1979, then lived in California and Florida for many years before returning once again to Westerly in 2007 for her final years to be with her eldest daughter, when diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. She lived out her last few years at the Westerly Health Center.
Cammy was recognized for her beauty, her vibrant smile, fun-loving personality and her great compassion to help others.
In 2003 Cammy published a book of her own spiritual poetry titled “O For the Love of God”. This book expressed her strong faith in God and in her ministry work. This book reflects her deep devotion, which mirrored the way in which she approached her life in sharing her beliefs and joy in all aspects of her life.
Cammy is survived by her three children, Karen Bennett-Aristi of Groton, CT, Robert Gill Bennett of Thailand and Heidi Bennett Ray of Michigan; two granddaughters, Ashlee Holland and Elizabeth Gonzales, as well as three step-grandchildren, Katherine Aristi, Cole Aristi and D’Toy Upama.
Cammy loved life; she loved her children and the people who came into her life in various ways. I know she is grateful for all life gave her and may now rest in peace. She remains our Angel.
Cammy will be sorely missed but we know she has a very special place in heaven.
Funeral Services will be private for the family.
