Obituary

GLOUCESTER – Cassie A. McKay, 58, died Thanksgiving evening, November 27, 2014, surrounded by loved ones at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.
Born in Gloucester on October 27, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Catherine G. (Critchett) and John S. “Jack” McKay, Sr.
Cassie had worked at the Maplewood Sweet Shop for many years. She had also been employed by Slug Ryan at Atlantic Seafoods for many years.
She enjoyed arts and crafts and walking the beach with her sisters to collect beach glass. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She touched so many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Courtney M. Buffum; son, Corey P. Buffum; four grandchildren, Kylee Michaud, Alyssa Hamilton, Maddison and Laycee Goodhue; five sisters, Dottie deLima, Helen McKay, Jo-Ann McKay, Randi McKay, and Donna, wife of Michael Dennis; nieces and nephews, Jillian Cody, Jessica deLima, Jaclyn Trefry, Jami Kolodzik, Jordan, Jacen and Brianna Horne, Jonaie McKay, Michael, Jr. and Matthew Dennis, Tyler and Trevor Pelletier; grandnieces and grandnephews, Michael, Joie and Jackson Cody, Jayden deLima, Andrew, Ryan and Sophia Trefry, Brett and Julia Gaipo, Michael Marino, Jr., and Peyton Jones; many aunts and uncles, including her godparents, Joan Fennessey and Albert Surrette; and many dear friends. She was also predeceased by her brother, John S. “Jack” McKay, Jr., a sister, Rhonda Lee McKay and brother-in-law, Joe deLima, Jr., as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 8 – 9:15 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family care of Corey P. Buffum, 12 Adams Place, Gloucester, MA 01930. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.
