John F. Mader age 89 of Salem, NH, died Wednesday at Salemhaven Nursing Home, Salem, NH.
He was born in Merrimac, MA, grew up and was educated in Merrimacport, MA. He was a resident of Salem for the past 2 years, formerly of Gorham, ME.
Mr. Mader was an Electrical Engineer for Westinghouse Inc. He and his family were Methodist Missionaries in Liberia for 6 years, where Mr. Mader taught the Liberian boys how to be electricians. He was a US Air Force veteran, who served his country during World War II.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Titcomb) Mader of Salem, NH
Daughters: Johanna Ferguson of Newton, NH
Robin and her husband Stanley Fulton of Arizona
Son: Vernon Mader of Tarpon Springs, Florida
Sisters: Vivian Randall of Haverhill, MA
Norma Donovan of Saco, ME
7 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews
A memorial service will be held Friday December 5th at 2 PM at Salemhaven Nursing Home, 23 Geremonty Drive, Salem, NH. Urn burial will take place in Maine at a later date. Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salemhaven Nursing Home Activities Fund.
