Judy Abbascia, a lifelong resident of Worcester died peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer with her husband Joe at her side. Judy’s strong faith in Christ is what guided her through the past six months and also led her home to be at peace with our lord.
Judy leaves her husband Joseph Abbascia; a loving daughter Gina Gulino Payne & husband, Darryl of Derry, NH, a loving son Joseph Gulino & wife, Lynn of Greenville, RI; four treasured grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, Jake & Nicholas. Parents Gloria & Robert Maurais of North Berwick, ME. Parental father Mitchell Baroud; brothers Lawrence Vigeant of Holden, Michael Vigeant of Kittery, ME, Robert Maurais of York, ME, Barry, Michael & Steven Baroud of Worcester; sisters, Susan Nibi of York, ME, Marine Mayfield of North Berwick, ME. She was predeceased by her sister Faith St. Martin of Worcester. Many thanks to Judy’s best friends Rachel & cousin Joyce who were always there by her side.
Judy was such a loving spiritual soul in the world, carrying her big smile and caring approach, touching everyone’s lives that she came in contact with and always spoke the truth whether you liked it or not! As a Reiki practitioner, she would work bringing healing energy to anyone who sought her out.
Her nick name was “the Bread Lady” to her husband Joe. They both met over a loaf of Italian bread at his family’s Italian store the Boulevard Market. Judy was the love of his life spending 21 short years together.
Spending time with family was so important, making Christmas cookies, going into Boston on a family shopping trip prior to Thanksgiving, marked the start of the holidays. Never missing one of Olivia’s or Julia’s dance recitals, or driving to RI to be at one of Jake’s or Nicholas’s soccer games.
Judy was an entrepreneur at heart, owning and operating several businesses during her life, Salon Estique a full service hair salon & the Tuscan Rose, a European specialty gift store. She had the keen sense & ability to evaluate a business within Spa/Salon industry and turn it around from failure. Prior to her illness Judy split her time as the medical spa manager for Laserderm Medi Spa of Shrewsbury and working side by side with her husband Joe within their real estate business Properties Central Realty, Judy also had a flair for design, she managed all color choices & house designs, while selecting all finish fixtures that were the latest style or trends, which would wow the new homeowner.
Family and friends will honor and remember Judy’s life by gathering for calling hours Tuesday December 2nd from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, December 3rd with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
