Obituary

Rita B. (Ruscito) Hunt, 86, of Hampton, NH and formerly of Scituate, RI, died peacefully at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 29, 2014. She had been a resident of Webster at Rye since May 2014.

Prior to her move to New Hampshire, Rita had been employed as a data processor at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1993.

She was the wife of the late Arthur B. Hunt, Jr., and previously of the late Anthony Ruscito. Rita was born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Rheaume and Emelia (Benoit) Barrette. Rita grew up in Providence, RI, and was a 1946 graduate of St. Charles School. Before her marriage to Anthony Ruscito, she was employed at the former Narragansett Electric Company.

A resident of North Scituate for forty-two years, Mrs. Hunt moved to Hampton, NH in 2000.

Rita leaves behind her devoted children, Nancy R. Smith (Stephen Maciel) of West Greenwich, RI, Sue Magro of Portsmouth, NH, Lynne Magro (John) of Hampton, NH, with whom she made her home, Gerry Benoit (David Crabill) of Cambridge, MA, Peter Ruscito (Michele) of Folsom, CA, and James Ruscito (Shannon) of Coventry, RI. Rita also leaves eleven grandchildren: Nathan Smith, Asa Magro, Emelia Magro, Jake Magro, Adriane Burke, Christopher, Matthew, Michael, and Jessica Ruscito, Andrew and Adam Ruscito, and one great-grandson, Lucas Smith. She was the sister of Jacqueline Provost, Pauline Searcy, and the late Janine Roy.

Rita was a voracious reader who also enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, being outdoors, and especially spending time with her large, close family. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Scituate, RI, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was a devout communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal parish in Hampton, NH.

The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for their compassionate care, and especially to the angels at Webster at Rye, who she so appreciated and who helped her feel loved and cared for in her final months.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, December 3 from 4-7pm in the Anderson Winfield Funeral Home, Greenville Common, Greenville RI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 4 at 9:30am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI.
