Dorothy L. (Potuchek) Gifford, 85, of Westport, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Gifford and the late Albert Stonis.
Born in Pawtucket RI, daughter of the late Christopher W. and Evelyn (Proulx) Potuchek, she had resided in Westport for many years. Prior to Westport, she resided in Providence, RI where she raised her family and worked as a child caregiver and homemaker. Mrs. Gifford was a former member of both the German Hall of Pawtucket, RI and an active member of St. Casimir’s Parish in Providence, RI. She was a member of the Westport Council on Aging and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her 2 daughters: Lucille Stonis of Maynard, MA and Shelley McKinnon and her husband Jack of Westport; 1 sister: Shirley Dauray of Westport; her daughter-in-law: Ronne Chalek; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Christopher and Russell Stonis and sister of the late Evelyn Alberg and Lillian Integlia.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
