He also served as an energetic and dedicated trustee and labor leader for the affiliated International Association of Machinists (IAM).

Michael further dedicated his work ethic and talents in the community and his church, Holy Ghost Parish, Olyphant, where he followed his late father's footsteps in dutifully serving as the caretaker in all respects for the parish cemetery and grounds in Blakely for more than 30 years.

Michael lived life to the fullest, and set an example for hard work, perseverance, responsibility and leadership. He led with a sense of humor, intelligence, calm and kindness. He had the answer, solution and a memorable quote and story for every situation in life.
