"Buddy" of Shrewsbury, died on November 25, 2014.
Bohdan was predeased by his beloved wife Tania of 40 years on July 1, 2006 and his son Marko on May 30, 1969. Bohdan leaves behind a son, Adrian Smolynsky and his wife Maria of Charlton, a daughter, Roma Siemen and her husband Jim of South Grafton and a daughter Christine O'Brien and her husband Joe of Douglas and seven grandchildren, Liesl, Emily, Julia, Marcus, Abby, Tatiana and Nico.
Bohdan was born in Ternopil, Ukraine on February 23, 1931 and came to the United States in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bohdan received an associates degree in Civil Engineering from the Franklin Institute of Boston in 1964 and a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Technology from Northeastern University in 1967.
Bohdan held a few responsible positions with different companies and his last job was as a Vice President and Director of Real Estate for the Guaranty Bank and Trust Company in Worcester MA.
Bohdan was active in the community belonging to Ukrainian Engineer Association of America, was a trustee for the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Boston, a treasurer of the Ukrainian American Heritage Foundation of Boston, and also a member of the Ukrainian American Verean's Post 31 in Boston.
The religious services will be performed by Rev. Yaroslav Nalysnyk and held at Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church in Boston. Burial will be private at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury in the presence of his immediate family only, per Bohdan's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in Bohdan's choice.
Bohdan's family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital, Whitney Suites, Beaumont at Westborough and Salmon VNA and Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided for our father.
