Mellicent Jenkins Drake, born Feb. 7, 1924, of Plymouth, passed away at age 90 after a brief illness on November 24th at Beth Israel-Plymouth.
She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Braintree before moving to Plymouth in 1980’s. For many years, she was an active member of the Church of the Pilgrimage and sang in the choir. Because of her passion for music, she played a vital roll in the fundraising for the grand Roach Pipe Organ to be built for the church. Besides her children and grandchildren, her greatest love and pleasure in life was music.
She was the wife of the late Walter W. Drake and mother of the late Wayne P. Drake. She is survived by her beloved daughter Cynthia Walsh and her husband Gerard Walsh. Her two grandsons: Adam Amara and his wife Eugenia Oganova and Joshua Amara and his wife Jennifer Amara.
There will be a memorial service at the Church of the Pilgrimage on Saturday December 13th at 11 AM. Arrangements made by the Richard Davis Funeral Homes of Plymouth and Manomet. There are no visiting hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth, MA 02360.
