IRENE (OSBORNE) FERREIRA, age 97, of Hingham, MA died on Sunday, Dec. 12th at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. Mrs. Ferreira was born in Norwell, MA and was a graduate of Norwell High School. A longtime Norwell resident, she then lived in P.E.I., Canada for 16 years, returned to Norwell for 10 years and then came to Hingham 40 years ago. Mrs. Ferreira was a past member and officer of the Amanda K. Bosworth Rebekah Lodge in Hingham and was a past member and officer of the Norwell Grange. She loved her family, cats, gardening, doing crafts with her friends and visiting Prince Edward Island.
She was the wife of the late Milton Ferreira and the late Albert E. MacDougall. Mother of
Marjorie Jean Eckhardt and her husband George of Stephentown, NY and Dade City, FL,
Reginald H. MacDougall and his wife Barbara of Medina, OH, Irma F. Giglio and her husband John of Gloucester, MA and Freda I. Milley and her husband Donald of Hingham. She was the sister of the late Constance Andrews. Sister in law of Marion Shaw of P.E.I., Canada and Evelyn Towle of Walpole, MA. Also survived by 18 grand-children, 33 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services Wednesday, Dec. 15th at 12 Noon at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham, MA.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Wednesday, prior to the service from 10 AM
to 12 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Hingham Senior Center,
224 Central St., Hingham, MA 02043.
The interment will be in the Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.
