KENDALL D. DOBLE, JR., age 76, a Hingham resident for 50 years, died at his home on Saturday, Dec. 11th after a brief illness. Born in Boston, Mr. Doble spent his early life in Cohasset. He was educated at Derby Academy in Hingham, was a 1946 graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH and was a 1950 graduate of Yale University. He then served with the United States Army from 1950 - 1956. Mr. Doble was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pneumatic Scale Corporation in Quincy from 1960 until his retirement in 1991. He was a Charter Trustee of Quincy Junior College, a member of the Board of Directors of the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, a member of the Hingham Advisory Commitee from 1985 - 1990, serving as chairman in 1990, a member of the Hingham Personnel Board from 1990-1996 and was Commodore of the Hingham Yacht Club from 1992-1994. Mr. Doble was an avid sailor and enjoyed sailing the Maine Coast, Massachusetts Bay and the Caribbean.
He was the husband of Jean (Macdonald) Doble of Hingham and the late Barbara (Howard) Doble. He was the father of Nancy E. Doble of Pownal, Maine, Kendall D. Doble, III and his wife Elizabeth of Hingham and James H. Doble and his wife Mimi of Union, Maine. Step-father of Cai C. Wichert of Hingham, Kimberly W. Douglas of Milford, New Hampshire and Elizabeth K. Reed of Kittery, Maine. Brother of Margaret D. Ingersol of West Lebanon, New Hampshire and the late Jean D. Sweeney. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 16th at 2 PM at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Ave., Cohasset. Visiting hours are to be omitted.
