Obituary

Janie G. (Christie) Chapman 93, passed away at the Newfield House in Plymouth after a long illness on November 22, 2014. She was born in Plymouth, MA and was the daughter of her late parents Samuel H. Christie and Henrietta (MacRae) Christie. She was the wife of the late Sumner A. Chapman Jr. She has two surviving sisters, E. Katherine Lafayette and Arlene B. Axford both of Kingston MA. She also had a half- brother Rev. H. Leslie Christie who predeceased her. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Janie graduated from Plymouth High School, Class of ’39 and received her RN at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston and in later years became the Assistant Director of the School of Nursing. She also received her B.S. and Masters degrees at Boston University.
Janie was an Army Nurse during WWII and was stationed in Brazil. She was also enrolled in Women in Military Service in America.
She enjoyed extensive travelling throughout her life and line dancing five days a week. Janie was cherished by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Friends are invited to calling hours at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. Plymouth on Friday November 28th from 3-6PM and to the funeral on Saturday November 29th at the Church of the Pilgrimage Town Square Plymouth at 10AM. Burial will be private.
