Richard C. Clarke, 74, of Westport died unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Dawn L. (Comstock) Clarke.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Thomas W. Clarke, Jr. and the late Leah D. (Taylor) Clarke, he had lived in Westport since 1960. A graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School, where he played soccer and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Tiverton where he volunteered his time doing carpentry at the Kingdom Hall. Prior to retirement, he was a carpenter for Local 1305 of Fall River. Mr. Clarke enjoyed working on his home that he built, but most of all he loved spending time with his entire family.
Including his wife, survivors include a son: Rick C. Clarke of Fall River; 2 daughters: Robin L. Nunes of Westport and Lisa F. Duarte of Westport; a brother: Thomas W. Clarke III of New Bedford; 4 sisters: Joan A. McGuire of Coventry, RI, Joyce W. Langello of Warren, RI, Carol Gould of CT and Judith L. Leddy of E. Providence, RI; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Potter Funeral Home from 6 - 8 P.M.
Funeral services will be private.
