Thomas Eugene Bogue, 70, of Mystic died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Krause) Bogue.
He was born on September 1, 1944 in Mystic, the son of Clarence Bogue and Antonina McGugan. He attended local schools, graduating from Fitch Senior High School , Mitchell College and the University of Connecticut. He worked as an Analyst at Electric Boat for 37 years.
After retiring from Electric Boat , Tom fulfilled his passion for being on the water and went to work for Project Oceanology at Avery Point until his illness. He served the Town of Groton for many years as a member of the Conservation Commission. He was a lifetime member of the Coastal Masonic Lodge # 57 , the Groton Sportsmen's Club and Snake Meadow Club.
Tom loved the The Lord , his family, pets and the water. He was an avid outdoorsman, kayaker ,fly fisherman, bird hunter and wild mushroom forager. He took great joy in teaching his grandchildren many of these skills. He loved to cook while listening to opera and his "soupy" was the best in Connecticut.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses , David Bogue (Amy) of Minnesota, James Bogue (Claudia) of Ledyard, Amanda Slane (Todd) and Jeffrey Hastings (Lorraine) of Norwich and 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jean Brand of Mystic and several nieces and nephews. Tom was well loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 10:30am at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to Wildwood Christian School, 35 Wawecus Hill Road, Norwich CT 06360.
