CHICOPEE – Elaine R. (Picard) Belliveau, 77, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 17, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on November 9, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Honore N. and Flora (Bouthillier) Picard. She was raised on Walter Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and graduated in 1955 from the former Saint Jerome High School in Holyoke. She later lived on John Street for many years in Willimansett before moving to Fairview around 1998. She was employed for many years at the former Perrault Brothers Grocery Store in Willimansett and had last worked as a clerk for H & R Block in Holyoke. She enjoyed spending time exercising and meeting new friends at the Chicopee Senior Center where she was known for her quick wit. She was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and now a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. She was a fabulous cook and was always ready to invite her family over for a wonderful meal. Most of all, she was an exceptional homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Richard R. Belliveau. They were married on February 23, 1957 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving children, Laura A. Arbour of Chicopee and David R. Belliveau and his wife, Dianne, of Lee; her seven cherished grandchildren, Emily Chandler and her husband, Steven, David Arbour and his wife, Rachel, Patrick and Nicholas Arbour and Monique, Nicole and Michele Belliveau; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Ethan and Wyatt Chandler and Cole Arbour; her dear brothers-in-law, Roy Belliveau and Fred Belliveau and his wife, Amelia, all of Holyoke; and her many dear, nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Belliveau and Picard families. In addition, Elaine leaves her best friend of 75 years, Elna Davignon of Easthampton. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving brother, Robert Picard. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, November 21, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private for her family at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
