Lillian Almeida Senna, of South Dartmouth died Friday December 10, 2004 at New Bedford Healthcare Center after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph "Jedge" Senna.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joaquim and Gertrude (Souza) Almeida, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to South Dartmouth in 1984.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.
Mrs. Senna was the owner and operator of Lil's Beauty Shop in New Bedford for many years until her retirement. She had also been a teacher of cosmetology at LeBaron Hairdressing Academy.
Mrs. Senna was a member of the New Bedford Senior Women's Bowling League, the Dartmouth Senior Walking Club, the Forever Young Club at St. John the Baptist Church and the Bliss Corner Seniors. She had also been a volunteer for the Dartmouth Council on Aging for twelve years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling extensively, listening to music of all kinds, socializing and enjoying life each day.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Pethick, and her husband Jeffrey, of New Bedford and Patricia Weidenbacher, and her husband Raymond, of Mary Esther, Florida; six grandchildren, Michael Semiao and his wife Rita, Christy Louro and her husband Kevin, Jonathan Pethick, Susan Howell, Scott Weidenbacher, and Steven Weidenbacher; 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Scott, and Erin Mary; her dear friend and longtime companion, Everett Galego of South Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mary McGlaun, Florence Pontes, Clotilde Burgo, Pauline Monteiro, Anthony "Rico" Almeida, and Manuel "Snubby" Almeida.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 14, 2004 at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Her family will receive visitors at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will be private.
