Mr. Ronald D. Clements, age 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully on October 30, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Marion (Sharp) Clements. They were married on October 2, 1953 in Naples, Italy and together have shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Somerville he was the son of the late James and Mary Clements.
Ron was a 1948 graduate of Wilmington High School. He attended Boston University and Northeastern University earning his degree in Electrical Engineering. Ron when on to have a distinguished career in the electronic engineering field for over 30 years. Ron also served in the United States Navy Air Force and was a proud veteran of the Korean War honorably serving from 1951 to 1954. Ron's love of flying helped him to receive his private pilot license at the Tewksbury Airport in 1976. He was also a member of the airport in Nashua, NH. In his leisure time golfing, boating, skiing and poetry were some of his other interests that he enjoyed with his family and friends.
In addition to his late parents, Ron is predeceased by his daughter, Karen Birrille formerly of Townsend, brother, George Clements, sisters, Helen Clements and Frances Rochon. Ron is survived by his daughter Corinne Warner of Charlotte, NC and loving grandchildren; Dr. Charlene Warner, Carlisa Warner, and Austin Birrille. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Clements and sister Emily Doucette. He is further survived by many special nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service with military honors in the Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, Saturday, November 22nd, at 12 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ron's memory to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster, 8919 Park Rd., suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28210.
