Anna (Gomes) Mendes, 89, of New Bedford died November 12, 2014 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John G. Mendes.
Born in Wareham, the daughter of the late Antone and Marion (Gomes) Gomes, she lived in Wareham most of her life.
She enjoyed knitting.
Survivors include a son, David Mendes and his wife Lyn of Providence; 2 daughters, Marion Barrows of Wareham and Doreen Mendes of New Bedford;a brother brother, Manuel Gomes of Wareham; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late John Mendes and the sister of the late Antone Gomes, James Gomes, John Gomes, Ida Monteiro, Dominga Gomes, Jennie Goncalves, Mary Rozario and Lucy Gomes.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Her family will receive guests from 10 - 11 AM prior to her service.
