Alice Madru, 88, passed away peacefully with her family around her at Holyoke Medical Center on Nov. 12, 2014. She was born to John C. and Rose (Lamoureux) Barrows in Holyoke on Nov. 19, 1925 and attended Chicopee schools. She was very active in her church, the First Congregational Church of Chicopee, where she served as Sunday School Superintendant and Ladies Benevolent Society President for a great many years. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years Robert Madru; her daughter, Pamela Baker, her granddaughter Roberta Tighe, her grandson Maynard Baker and his wife Mariana Baker of Tampa, FL, her granddaughter Jennifer McGrath and her husband Dr. Timothy McGrath of Orange Park, FL and 7 great grandchildren, Shannon Tighe, Madison Tighe, Alexander Baker, Joshua Baker, Samuel Baker Ina McGrath and Morgan McGrath also a sister Shirley Sicard of TN. She was predeceased by her daughter Roberta Madru in 1963 and her son Clifford Madru in 2009. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Hall North in Agawam for the incredible care they gave Alice. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Chicopee, 302 Chicopee, St., on Monday Nov. 17th at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
