Lorraine A. (Desorcy) Maurice, 73, of New Bedford died Sunday November 9, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Robert George Maurice, Sr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Alice (Bramwell) Desorcy, she lived in New Bedford all her life.
Mrs. Maurice was formerly employed as a nurse's aide at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home for 35 years until her retirement.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.
She loved bowling and going to Foxwoods.
Survivors include her husband; her son, Robert G. Maurice, Jr. and his wife Deborah of New Bedford; her brother, Leo Desorcy and his wife Paula of Freetown; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Maurice of New Bedford; her sisters-in-law, Gerry Desorcy of New Bedford and Doreen Desorcy of Freetown; her brother-in-law, Ronald Maurice and his wife Priscilla of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Kevin Tyler Maurice and Samantha Ashley Maurice; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kevin Paul Maurice and the sister of the late Robert Desorcy, Jr. and Paul Desorcy.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
