…Verizon; owned Greyhound kennel; 65
TEWKSBURY - Mr. Robert A. Miano, age 65, a retired telephone worker, died Tuesday, November 11, at Lowell General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Anna M. (Brazzo) Miano, with whom he had celebrated a 44th wedding anniversary this past August 30th.
He was born in Chelsea, February 4, 1949, a son of Mary (Paone) Miano of Salem, MA and the late Frank “Yankee” Miano. He was raised in East Boston, and graduated from East Boston High School. After his marriage to Anna, they moved to Tewksbury to raise their son.
Mr. Miano began his career with New England Telephone, and stayed through the company changes to retire from Verizon. He worked in the pay phone department most of his career. His early hobby was racquetball, and he helped organize racquetball tournaments throughout New England. He traded hobbies to become a Greyhound racing enthusiast. He founded the Miano Greyhound Racing Kennel based at Wonderland in Revere, and successfully raced the entire East Coast.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Rome R. and Courtney (Roussell) Miano of Tewksbury, three grandsons, Anthony, Vince, and Maksim Miano all of Tewksbury, a brother, Ronald Miano and his wife Karen of Salem, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At his request, funeral services were private.
