Mr. Moore was born on October 20, 1931 in Colquitt County and was the son of Richard Story “Buck” Moore Jr. and Esco Esther Surrency Moore, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two sons, John Alex Moore and Jerry Moore; one granddaughter, Kayla Boyd; and two brothers, Carlton Moore and Delton Moore.
Husband to Carolyn Land Moore for 64 years, loving faithful and devoted; father and grandfather, who raised his own family and more to work hard, to tell the truth and to give someone a hand up when in need. He began farming with a mule and a plow, working hard, as a man of his word, to be blessed and prosper; successful by anyone’s standards. As a friend, he was trustworthy and loyal. He believed that a handshake was a contract not to be broken. Jesus said in Matthew 5:37, Let your Yes be simply Yes, and your No be simply No; anything more than that comes from the evil one.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Carolyn Land Moore of Tifton; eight sons and seven daughters-in-law, Clinton and Susan Moore, Kenneth and Anita Moore, Ricky and Tonita Moore, Michael and Wendy Moore, Howard and Shelby Moore, Darrell and Sherri Moore, all of Tifton, Harvey Moore and his fiancé, Michelle Dimon, of Columbus and Craig and Vicki Moore of Barwick; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Dunn of Macon; Bobby Turner of Tifton, who was like his own son; 23 grandchildren, Lisa Hodnett, Ginger Farmer, Darlene Westberry, Shannon Hester, Kim Baker, Michael Moore Jr., Josh Moore, Niki Dasher, Broc Moore, Buck Moore, Emily Sumner, Whitney Tomlinson, Cherish Osborn, Amanda Booker, Jackson Dunn, Carla Dunn, Samuel Dunn, Holly Moore, Katelyn Moore, Jessica Merritt, Heidi Wilcox, Mitchell Moore and Maggie Moore; 37 great-grandchildren and still coming; and one sister, Evelyn Green of California.
