Obituary

Marjorie May (Sebastian) Colebut, age 79, of Ledyard, died Thursday morning at Mariner Healthcare at Pendleton in Mystic after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Colebut was born in Mystic on February 8, 1925 one of 11 children to Arthur Sebastian Sr. and Betty (Roberts) Sebastian. Raised in Mystic, she attended local schools.

A longtime resident of Providence, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at The Steele House in Providence before retiring in 1989. A member of the Eastern Pequot Indian Tribe, she returned to this area in 2000. She was well-known as an accomplished pianist.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Roy Colebut; two children, Diane Pope and Arnold Colebut, both of Providence; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Colebut with whom she made her home; a brother, Howard Sebastian of Mystic, two sisters, Lillian Sebastian and Idabelle Jordan, both of Mystic, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Roy Colebut who died Nov. 25th, and a grandchild. She was predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy Hardy, Arthur, Warren, James, Benjamin, Julia, and Lillie Hawkins.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic, on Tuesday from 10-10:45am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am. The Rev. Lisabeth M. Gustafson, Pastor of The Old Mystic Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sebastian family plot at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.

In accordance with Marge's wishes, the family requests that flowers be omitted and donations in her memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of CT, 920 Farmington Ave., West Hartford CT, 06105.
