Obituary

Douglas Earle Brayman Sr., 76, of Groton died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Westerly Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances (Brooks) Brayman.

He was born on December 14, 1937 in Westerly, the son of Raymond and Marion (Kenyon) Brayman. He worked for Electric Boat as a General Foreman for 41 years, prior to his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of the Westerly Senior Center and of Union Baptist Church in Mystic.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Douglas E.Brayman, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Mystic and his daughter Beverly Powden and her husband Christopher of Gofftown, NH. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Casey and MaryKate Powden, Private 1st Class Michael Powden and his wife Laura, and Jordan, Elizabeth and Stephen Brayman. He is predeceased by his five siblings; brothers, Robert, George, Raymond, and Donald Brayman and sister Beverly Barber.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 11:00am at the Union Baptist Church, 119 High Street, Mystic. Burial will be on Wednesday, November 12 at 8:30am in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. Family and friends are invited to attend.
