Georgia Mathilda (Sturgis) Bliven, 79, of Ledyard, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at her childhood home in Ledyard.
She was born on December 4, 1934 in Ledyard, the Daughter of Austin Knight Sturgis and Martha Belle (Pennoyer) Sturgis. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Bliven and her sister Matsie Jane Clarke. She is also survived by four sons Gary Bliven, Arthur Bliven, Michael Bliven and Austin Knight and a daughter Joan Disco, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased be her sister Mary Baudro and her son James Bliven.
Georgia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She passionately loved her family and supported them through good times and bad. She rarely had a cross word to say about anyone and was known for bringing in neighbors and friends as part of her family. She worked in the Ledyard school system for several years and was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary of Mystic.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:00am at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, followed by internment at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic and a reception at the Mystic VFW. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Center of Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
