DACULA, GA – Douglas E. “Doug” Barlow, 55, of Dacula, Georgia and a former resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, November 1, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at his home in Dacula, GA surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on July 26, 1959, a beloved son of Elbert E. and Shirley (LeBoeuf) Barlow. He was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, graduated in 1977 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in Chicopee for many years. He later lived in Vermont before moving to Dacula, GA in July of 2014. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic at the Beaver Paper Company in Lawrenceville, GA and previously worked at the Quikrete Company in Williston, VT. During his leisure time, Doug enjoyed snowmobiling, ATV riding and fishing. Doug was a “Gentle Giant” and a wonderful friend to everyone he met. He adored his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He was a communicant of Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Besides his loving parents, he leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Deborah A. “Debbie” (Bolstridge) Barlow. They were married on May 24, 1980 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 34 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving daughters, Christine M. Barlow and her boyfriend, Randy Cameron, Jr., of Middlebury, VT, Stefanie A. Barlow of Dacula, GA and Michelle L. Pelissier and her husband, Anthony, of Lancaster, NH; his five cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Alissa Barlow, Katrina Barlow, Jillian Stewart, Joseph Stewart and Alexander Pelissier; his dear brother, Robert Barlow and his wife, Valerie, of Port St. Lucie, FL; his dear sisters, Dolores “Dee” Godbout and her husband, Michael, of Springfield and Laura Reynolds and her husband, Shawn, of Chicopee; his loving father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald M. “Pete” Bolstridge and his wife, Diane A. (Landry) Bolstridge, of Chicopee; and his many dear uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Barlow, Bolstridge, LeBoeuf and Landry families. He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Dave and Anna (Dean) Barlow, Francis and Violet (Fontaine) LeBoeuf; and his wife’s grandparents, Wallace and Edith (Clark) Bolstridge and Arthur and Thelma (Tanguay) Landry. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, November 10, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
