Dr. Leland “Scott” Morley, 83, of Tifton died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Tifton’s First United Methodist Church with Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. Dr. Morley will be laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Tifton’s First United Methodist Church.
Brad Gowen, Robert Cannon, Kendall Vance, Scott Chestnuttwood, A. W. Wright and Brad Hartley will serve as pallbearers.
Dr. Morley was born on December 11, 1930 in Blacksburg, Virginia and was the son of Leland Curtis Morley and Eleanor Margaret Scott Morley, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Vance Morley, who died February 15, 2014; and one brother. Dr. Morley graduated from the University of Maryland in 1954 and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1960. While at the University of Georgia, he was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He was a member of Tifton’s First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also an honor roll member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Morley is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Betty Morley of Middleburg, Florida; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Alfred Crabtree of Charleston, South Carolina; one brother, Donald Morley of Cape Coral, Florida; three grandchildren, Kayla Marie Morley Church, Kourtney Nicole Morley and Kinzie Elizabeth Morley; and one great-granddaughter, Addisynne Grace Church.
