Obituary

Lee, Allen N., longtime resident of Boston, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2014. He had just celebrated his 91st birthday. He was a kind and gentle man.

Allen was born in China in 1923 and immigrated to the United States in 1937 at the age of 14 to be with his father Ben Soon in Lawrence MA. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in England. He obtained the rank of TEC 5 and worked as a Surgical Technician in the 163rd General Hospital in England. Honors included a Good Conduct Medal, a European Africa Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, and a Victory Medal. Not long after being discharged, he returned to China where he met and married his wife Mee Fong in 1948. The couple lived in Providence RI, before moving to Boston in 1957, where he resided until his passing. He worked in several Chinese restaurants in the Brookline area during his working career.

He is survived by his wife Mee Fong, his daughter Rita Lee of Jamaica Plain, his son George Lee and his wife Ngei Wah and granddaughters Christina and Jennifer of Roslindale, and his son Ed and his wife Caren and granddaughter Stephanie. He will be missed.

Visiting hours will be 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday November 6, at The Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 7, in the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery at 11 AM.
