José “do Porto” C Mota, age 80, passed away on Thursday October 30, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rabo de Peixa São Miguel, Açores he was the son of the late José Correira and Maria Santo Christo (Cabral) Mota and wife of Maria J. (Vieira) Mota. He was a landscaper for J. Berkson, enjoyed playing in bands gardening and the outdoors.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children; Maria (husband Alfred) and Martha (husband Mark) DeCosta, José (wife Tina), Mario (wife Esmerelda), Carlos (wife Filomena), Tony (wife Rosemary), Peter (wife Leslie), Edward (wife Maxine) and Emanuel (companion Melinda) Mota, Lucy Carvalho (husband Steve), Olga Leite, and Ana Raposo (husband Paulo), siblings; Teresa Mello and Leonor Cabral, 27 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Manuel Mota.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on MONDAY here at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Santo Christo Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on SUNDAY from 4-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
