Calmerina P. Sousa, 78, a resident of Lawrence, died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on October 27, 2014.
She was born in Azores, Portugal on November 11, 1935 to Joao De Sousa and Carlota Picanco. Educated in local schools. Later after she moved to the United States she worked for many years as a Seamstress for Polo Clothing Company. She was a very religious person have been devoted to Saints Peter and Paul Church and Parish in Lawrence for many years until its closing, she was a current parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish in Lawrence.
Wife of the late: Jaime P. Teixeira, she leaves her son Jaime Teixeira and his wife Susan of Middleton, MA, Edite and her husband Antonio Sousa of Lawrence. Two sisters: Lucy Matos of Lawrence, Maria Parreira of Lawrence, and her brother Rui DeSousa of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandchildren Danielle and Kyle Teixeira of Middleton, MA. As well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00AM at Corpus Christi Church in Lawrence. Burial services will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
