WORCESTER-Thomas F. Beatty, 84, of Worcester died Friday, March 29th in Providence Extended Healthcare Center after an illness. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary E. (Thayer) Beatty; 2 daughters, Carol A. Evans of Brighton, CO and Nancy S. Taylor of Southbridge; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. A grandson, Robert A. Kerr died in 1993.
He was born in Worcester the son of Thomas and Palmira (Bagnolia) Beatty and lived here all of his life. He graduated from Classical High School and received a bachelor degree in civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1939. Mr. Beatty worked as an electrical engineer at G.T.E. Sylvania for many years he retired in 1984. While at Worcester Polytechnic Institute he was a member of Theta Kappa Phi, a member of the First Friday Club, the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, the Emerald Club, St. Charles Borromeo Church and held a membership in Catholic Sodality of Our Lady. He was an avid reader and loved gardening.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 2nd from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, April 1st from 7:00 until 9:00 PM in the funeral home.
