Obituary

Silvio Susi, long-time proprietor of the Sulmona Meat Market in the North End, died at Massachusetts General Hospital, Saturday night. He was 86.


Mr. Susi was born and raised in Italy, the son of late Giovanni and the late Maria Dominica Susi.
A veteran of World War II in the Italian armed forces, Mr. Susi later served many years with the Caribinieri. In 1960, he came with his family to the United States and settled in Boston’s North End. There, he founded the Sulmona Meat Market on Parmenter St., which continues to prosper today. He and his family have resided in Medford since 1976.


He is survived by his wife Adelia (DiCenso), with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. He leaves a daughter, Anna Susi and her husband Domenico of Medford, and a son, John, also of Medford.
He was a proud grandfather of Franco and Giancarlo Susi and great-grandfather to Amara.


Friends and relatives may visit Wednesday 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be offered in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, Thursday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Community Mausoleum, Everett.
