GLOUCESTER: Lucia T. (Strescino) McLaughlin, 92, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Gloucester on February 20, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Lucia (Scarcella) Strescino. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and had attended Gloucester public schools. Lucia received her Honorary High School Diploma last year at the June 2013 graduation ceremony at Gloucester High School.
Lucia enjoyed her position as a caregiver, working with children, as well as the elderly in their private homes. She also volunteered for the City of Gloucester. Lucia loved life. She was an avid reader, with a hunger for knowledge and she never stopped learning and growing.
Lucia is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Elaine Anderson of Virginia; three grandchildren, Christopher Parsons and his wife Sabrina, Jessica Lemons and Kerry Parsons, all of Virginia; 5 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William Strescino and many nieces and nephews. Lucia was predeceased by her grandson, Enrico Strescino Parsons; sister Jennie Noble, and brothers Joseph, Enrico, Peter, Robert, Gildo and Aroldo.
A private funeral service was held on Saturday morning, October 18th, in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Lanesville.
