Hanson - Pauline M. (Monteiro) Pina 88, a longtime resident of Hanson, died Wednesday October 15 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of 67 years to Donald Pina.
Born in Wareham and raised in Marion she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Payne) Monteiro.
Pauline married Donald in 1947 and moved to Hanson, where together they raised their three children. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family. For many years she was “mother” to her entire neighborhood.
Pauline had remained active, playing in a women’s softball league with her daughter, until the age of 69.
In addition to her husband Donald she is survived by her loving children Kathleen Barboza of TN, Donna Almeida of Halifax, Donald Pina Jr. of Marshfield, and her sister Mabel Rose of Marion. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held Monday October 20 at 8 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Halifax. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Sunday October 19 from 4-8 PM.
