Obituary

Little Compton, RI – Marion (DeSouza) Lima, 85, of Little Compton died Friday, December 3, 2004 at home with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was the widow of John Lima.

She was born in Little Compton, daughter of the late Rita (DeSouza) Simmons and stepdaughter of the late Royal K. Simmons, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of Little Compton. She was a graduate of J.F. Wilbur High School, Little Compton class of 1937. Prior to retirement she was a waitress for the former Fo’c’sle of Sakonnet Point, Little Compton for almost 40 years and also a housekeeper of David Brayton, Jr. for many years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton. Mrs. Lima was an avid yardsaler, enjoyed playing cards but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by 3 sons: John K. Lima of Providence, Carlton A. Lima of Fall River and Jay E. Lima of Rhode Island; 2 daughters: Marian E. Medeiros of Little Compton and Deborah A. Lima of Little Compton; a brother: Royal K. Simmons, Jr. of Little Compton; 2 grandchildren: Heather A. Medeiros of Little Compton and Kimberly R. Lima of Little Compton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton at 11:00 A.M.

Calling hours Wednesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
