Obituary

Edward D’Assis Costa, 84, of Fall River, passed away Sep. 22, 2014 at home. Born on the 30th of September, 1929 in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Carlos & Beatriz (Costa) D’Assis.

While living in the Açores, he worked as a clerk in an office. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and lived in Toronto, Ontario for about 2 years. In 1958 he came to the USA and lived in Fall River until 1965. He also lived in East Providence from 1965-1979 when he moved back to Fall River.

In the USA, he worked in various shops in the area but most of the time he worked in the old Brown & Sharpe Foundry in Providence.

He leaves several nieces & nephews, and was the brother of the late Mary C. Costa, and the half-brother of the late Antonio & Manuel Garcia.

His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on THURSDAY at 8:00 A.M. with a service in the Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. There are no separate calling hours. www.rogersfuneral.com.
