Francis John Sartorio, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather returned home to his heavenly father on October 7, 2014, just three hours before his 92nd birthday. He was loved and adored by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
He was born October 8, 1922 in Keene, New Hampshire, the son of Nellie Filomina Papile and John Sartorio. He graduated Keene High School and went on to serve his country in World War II as a member of the elite OSS/Counter-Intelligence Agent Corps, No. 301, in North Africa and Italy. He earned his parachutes badge.
Francis’ decades-long career was manager of the meat department in the First National Stores (later named Finast), where he serviced the citizens of Keene and visitors -- always with a smile. His kind and gentle nature was known to all.
He was married to Sophie, the love of his life, for 65 years. She preceded him in death in December 2011. They enjoyed 25 years of retirement together with their many friends in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He loved walking the beach daily with his wife, biking and fishing in the ocean. He loved to cook and entertain. For much of his life he was an avid skier.
Francis was an independent energetic person who was active until his final days.
Francis’ family wishes to thank the entire staffs of Amedisys Hospice, and in particular, Michelle, Harlen, Vinnie and Cheryl and Trinity Home Care, especially Juliana, Bernice, Alice and Paige for their compassionate care given to Francis and his family.
Francis leaves his three children, Donna Forseze of Hooksett and her children Marc and Sarah Gravel; Scott Sartorio and his wife Lori of Keene and their two children Scott Sartorio and Erica Boutilette and her husband Bill and great-grandson Raymond; and Laurie McNabb and her husband Sean, and several nieces and nephews.
