Obituary

CHICOPEE – Wilfred G. Cormier, 92, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 12, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born in the Borough of Manhattan, New York on July 17, 1922, a beloved son of the late Clement and Delia (Dumas) Cormier. His family moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee around 1928 where he was raised and lived for the remainder of his life. He was employed for 40 years as a fork lift operator at the Philip Hano Business Forms in Holyoke and Springfield and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Graphic Arts International Union and a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lorita (Maenzo) Cormier who was Called Home on January 21, 1988. They were married on October 11, 1958 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 29 years of happiness together. He leaves his loving brother and sister-in-law, Ronald A. Cormier and his wife, Pauline, of Granby; and several cherished nephews, nieces and cousins. Besides his parents and his wife, he was also predeceased by his loving brother and sister-in-law, Armand L. Cormier and his wife, Claire. His relatives and friends are invited to a visiting hour on Friday morning, October 17, 2014 at 8 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 9 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
