Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Myrece A. (Geissler) Borowski, 91, of the McKnight section of Springfield, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was with her son, her two grandsons and neighbors when she passed. She was born in Springfield on a snowy day on January 31, 1923 when her parents had to drive over the trolley tracks to make it through the drifts to the hospital. She was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Hazel (Barnum) Geissler. She was a 1941 graduate of Springfield’s Classical High School after spending most of her high school years in Westfield. She lived in the McKnight section of the city since 1950. She was employed as a sales clerk for 15 years at the former Forbes & Wallace Department Store in Springfield and retired in the 1970’s. She stood out in her ability to solve real-life puzzles, whether they were business issues or in her hobbies. Myrece was known for her desire to share her talents, including sewing and knitting, with her friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Albert F. Borowski. They were married on September 3, 1946 at Saint John Lutheran Church in Westfield. They spent much of their time together attending auctions in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Myrece and Al also were avid card players, usually every Saturday night hosting her parents and the late Ewald Borowski, Al’s brother. She also leaves her loving son, Neill A. Borowski of Vestal, NY; her three cherished grandchildren, Kathryn Borowski DeLuca and her husband, Julian DeLuca, of Kingsport, TN, Brendan Borowski and his wife, Robyn, of Boston, MA, and Daniel Borowski of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Charmaine Haydu Borowski of Egg Harbor Township, whom she viewed as a daughter. Myrece cherished her two great-grandsons, Patrick and Nicholas DeLuca of Kingsport, TN. She also leaves Ann Myrece James of Clearwater, FL, a family friend who was like a close niece to Myrece. In her later years, she was blessed with the friendship and care of wonderful neighbors Elba Mendez and her family and Joy Allen. Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Prayer Service on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint John Lutheran Cemetery, 139 Lockhouse Road, Westfield, MA 01085.
